The Guardian recently lifted up the missing global actions on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Ed Whiting pointed out in his article that it takes too much time from the world to act against this problem. After Professor Dame Sally Davies’ publication, The Drugs Don’t Work in 2013, it took another three years for the launch of Jim O’Neill’s International Review on Antimicrobial Resistance and the world to realize that the AMR is an urgent threat. However, today a year from Jim O’Neill’s review publications, needed global actions against AMR are still missing. Without proper actions, overprescribing and abuse of antibiotics will lead to inability to do basic surgeries and transplants, and the deaths from resistant bacteria will pass the cancer deaths.
