First call to Action on AMR summary report from Berlin event
“Call to Action” on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) event took place in Berlin on 12.-13. October 2017. It was co-hosted by the governments of Ghana, the Kingdom of Thailand and the United Kingdom, along with the Wellcome Trust and the UN Foundation. Although international community is actively committed to implementation of the Global Action Plan on AMR and countries’ National Actions Plans, participants acknowledged that actions need to be accelerated. Greater progress demands that politicians, industry, philanthropy and civil society take immediate, scaleable and sustainable action, supported by the allocation of sufficient resource. 10 underpinning principles were agreed by co-hosts. Principles including among other things efforts to bring new therapeutics, diagnostics and vaccines to market.
